welcome to samphire
meet the maker
Samphire has quickly bloomed before my eyes from a lockdown hobby into the business you see today. Coming home from working abroad, I found myself beaten down by a wintry Cornwall and idleness. So I got myself busy. As long as I can remember, I’ve been interested in conscious living and the healing powers of mother nature. Using the knowledge I already had, I started creating tea blends for myself and my sisters and found I really enjoyed it. With this burst of creativity, paired with the long walks I began taking around the wild Cornish coast, ideas started to form. The Cornish winter was suddenly inspiring.
I began foraging local plants and herbs, taking them home to research and see what I could create. It was here that I discovered the samphire succulent, which grows in abundance on our coastlines and came to be the name of my business. Discovering that not only did I like crafting these products, but was actually good at it, I decided to engross myself in the worlds of aromatherapy and natural skincare by taking online courses. This is when the products you see now started to take form. My first few batches of scrubs and balms were given to my sisters and close friends, and it was only with their positive feedback that I began to believe I could create a business. Still uncertain, I started playing around with brand ideas, and with the name Samphire chosen, I felt the passion ignite.
From that point in January, I’ve spent every day working on Samphire. These products are the outcome of this time spent learning and experimenting: natural and organic wellbeing goodies, handmade with care from my home in Cornwall. I hope you love them as much as I do. Jen x
